Kitchen Remodel In Progress

We finally took the plunge and started our kitchen remodel. Basically we are pulling out all the cabinets and installing new ones. Take a look at our kitchen yesterday and today. We can't wait for it to be finished so we can invite over all of you, our family and friends.

Yesterday: Notice the 70's style linoleum and microwave, stove, oven combo. Everything about this kitchen spoke "bleh".

Today: Ah the sweet joy of release from bleh-dom. Notice the imprints on the wall of where everything once was. We can't wait for our new Ikea kitchen cabinets.

Morning Jog with Peg

Peg and I have been trying to stay fit by jogging few miles every couple days. Here's a shot of the trail we run on most of the time. It's pretty nice. We're very fortunate to live near a trail like this. Today we ran around a track instead of a trail. This way we can still run together and every once in awhile I can push a little harder.

That's Peg in the picture. We normally run on the trail to the left. Here Peg is mixing it up running on the blacktop.

Can't Sleep

I got up from bed tonight because I couldn't sleep. I'm not one that worries often but tonight I got stressed.

I'm hoping that writing in my blog will help calm my nerves. I need the practice. Writing that is. I've recently read quite a few blogs and discovered there are a lot of great writers out there. The blogosphere is a great way for people who are so eloquent with words in type to share their stories with us. I admire a lot of these writers and hope to improve my writing skills over time.

Ok, this seems to be working. I'm thinking so hard about how and what to write that I'm getting tired. You see how difficult this is for me? That's why for the most part all you see on my blog are pictures, movies, and short descriptions.

Good Night. All will be well.

ps. I love my wife and family. Times like now really highlight the important things in life and help bring clarity to my priorities.

1999 UC Irvine Computer Lab

I dug up this photo for the sake of old friends. This doesn't look like a bunch of computer-loving-sun-deprived group of guys to me. Any of you guys have updated pictures I can post of you? (jerry [at] onetri [dot] com)

Fun music, fun dance, mildly enjoying. I like the song.

I saw a version of guys doing this on the side of a mountain. Did anybody else see that version? I enjoyed it more. If so please send me a link. I can't find it anymore.

Stay in school

To all young people, please stay in school. Listen to your parents. Don't do drugs. Be a good person. Or... you may end up like this person.

This version of the video is a humorous remake of the raw video footage above.

If you need something fun exciting and challenging to do join me in swim, bike, run or triathlon.

LA Triathlon 2006 Placing 4th

Peg placed 4th in her age group at the LA Triathlon. Here's a picture of her on the stage. She's pretty fast on her Kestrel Airfoil that's all stickered out by her sponsor OneTri.com! We're going to have to get her a new wetsuit next. Her current QR is full of holes and tears. Maybe well get an Orca or 2XU.

Debbie back in town

Debbie was back in town last week. It's always nice having her back. It's fun to talk triathlon and training with her. Peg, Brenda, Deb and I went on a 7 mile run in Walnut which was fun. Next time I want to do the run in Irvine probably at the Peter's Canyon Trail. Here's a pic of the girls at dinner.

Congratulations Angela and Daniel

You guys had a beautiful wedding. Peg and I were so happy to be part of your special day. Here are a couple pictures from the day.

I fuzzed out the photographer's face because he really annoyed me. He was in the middle of everything and I'm sure in everybody's pictures, including the videographer's. Btw, I think Angela and Daniel are going to have a bazillion great photos becuase they had the paparazzi following them around (4 photographers and 2 excellent videographers). Wedding Videographer's website : www.gavinholt.com

It was a great evening we were lucky to sit next to Tsan and Clar the super maid of honor.

Venice Birds

I was asked to post some more pictures of our vacation. Here's one, I'll do more later.

A lot of people feed the birds at Venice to get a picture just like the one here. I was so excited to do it that I didn't think twice. Don't let my expression fool you, I was freakin' out about bird flu!

Barcelona, Las Ramblas

P5200018
Eating is a big part of our trip. This is one of many photos of us eating. We're on Las Ramblas eating and people watching. Did you notice the huge glass of Sangria that Peg had (I had my own)? At this point she's already super tipsy. I wish I had the video camera by the time she got half way through because she was drunk! Hahaha... Anyhow I thought this was a cool shot.

Barcelona, Gaudi Cathedral

P5200155
This is actually the Temple De La Sagrada Familia. Better known as the Gaudi designed Cathedral that is currently under construction. Very unique, very "just-another-interesting-cathedral" to Peg and me. We didn't pay to go in but we did take quite a few pictures from the outside.

Granada, Alhambra Peg in wall

P5190122
Peg was having some fun and decided to crawl into this hole in the wall at the Alhambra in Granada. hehehe...

Granada, Canons at the Alhambra, Spain

At the Alhambra, plugging my ears because I'm afraid the canon may be loud. Btw, I've added pictures to my flickr account since the blogger upload wasn't working too well. Click on the picture to see more photos at flickr. I'll also continue to make posts. Thanks for the comments!

The second day in Sevilla was fun. I'm too tired to comment so I'm just going to post the pics.

Blogger is having issues uploading my pictures, otherwise I'd post more. Sorry, I'll try again later.

Seville, Sevilla - Just Arrived

We just arrived in Sevilla via the high speed AVE Tren. Our hotel is nice but the air conditioning isn't working. We're going to see the sights tomorrow, taking it easy tonight.

Peg infront of the AVE high speed train. This is a clean one, when we got off our train the front was practically yellow from all the bug splatter.

Jerry look! mmmmm.. pasteleria, we stopped by after getting something to eat. On a side note, Peg and I are getting thinner here not because the portions are small but because we're trying to avoid difficult communication confrontations. We're embarrassed we can't communicate. I think we're starting to get better at it. We're being forced to learn Spanish because if we don't we will be either stranded, homeless, or starving. This trip is great! Muy bien, muy bien.

I took a quick snapshot of Peg in front of the Cathedral as we were scoping out our surroundings. We're going to check it out tomorrow.

Bale, adios.

Madrid, May 15 is a holiday

Since May 15 is a holiday here, San Isidro (Madrid's patron saint) Festival, everything was closed. So we just walked around and took pictures from the outside of everything.

Here's me, Jerry, outside of the Cathedral Almudena, it faces the Royal Palace.

Here is Peg in front of the Royal Palace. It is so huge and grand with great views. I can't beleive places like this were built for one person.

This is the Plaza Mayor it was a big enclosed plaza, very cool. Another Chino guy took the picture of us, his English sounded European though. "Say Queso!"

The plus side of being here on a festival day is that tons of locals were out celebrating and in costume. We saw so many kids dressed in these outfits. This is Peg's favorite picture we took in madrid.

We're in front of the Monument to Alfonso XII. Doesn't Peg look happy with her polo de mango y naranja! Yo estoy comiendo un helado de straticella.

Leave us comments when you get the chance so we can read them on the road. Thanks, Jerry.

After work ride

It's not often that I get to come home early enough to do a quick ride with Peg and her co-workers. This was one of those lucky occasions. I caught up with Phil, Peg and Pat's family.

Pat's family is on the quad with Pat, Anya, Katia, and Collette. Isn't it awesome to see their whole family on a bike!

Peg and Brenda

Peg and I went to her parents house this weekend. Here's a picture of Peg and Brenda. Brenda always gives us a bunch of her old magazines like Men's Journal, Runner's World, Her Sports, and a new one called Experience Life. I pretty much scan through the magazines looking for triathlon and nutrition related articles.

Not new to the past couple months Peg and I were working on the triathlon site. Peg's actually working on it in this picture. You can see my computer in the fore ground. Jerry Cheng.

Happy Jane Day!

Happy birthday Jane. In honor of your birth on this day twenty eight years ago I am putting your picture on my site! I hope you find it to be acceptable. Please remember that you are welcome to any type of triathlon gear that tickles your fancy ;) In the mean time I hope you and Saunders can make it back to our house for dinner. Also, I will be pleased to bring back anything that you'd like from Europe, btw thanks for your help on the trip planning. Also, congratulations again on your engagement to the lucky man Saunders.

Gavin the Wedding Videographer

Gavin was my wedding videographer, I loved my video so much that I have seen my video way more often than my wedding photos. I should note the he's my cousin, however if you are considering a videographer I would seriously check him out. Rather than letting me rave about his wonderful skills I suggest you check out sample wedding videos on his site: wedding video samples. When you're done there check out the rest of his site because there's tons of information. My wedding was in Los Angeles but he'll shoot pretty much anywhere in Southern California. If you pay for his travel I'm pretty sure he'll go anywhere in the world. On top of the fact that he's super talented, he's also a super nice guy. So go check him out Gavin Holt Videographer.
--

Some day Gavin will say to me "Jerry Cheng, thank you for your excellent recommendations!"

Then I'll say back to him, "No, thank you for the gift of video..."

Tyler's First Bday

Here's a picture of Tyler from his first birthday party. I really like this photo of him. The mango cake looks good too mmm...

Jane and Saunders

Jane and Saunders came by our house today and hung-out with us for awhile. Peg and Jane went over a bunch of Janes wedding preparation stuff. These guys are a very happy couple, we are lucky to have them as our friends. I got pretty excited when Saunders told me that he was thinking about getting a new bike. It's great when your friends pick up the same hobbies. I hope he enjoys the bike because if he does he's only one short stroke from a tri. He's already a strong runner.

Vacation Time Again

Peg and I are headed to Europe next month! Spain, Italy, and Greece are on the itenerary. All this vacation planning got me reminiscing so here's a picture of us in Sydney. I never did post many of these pictures. This vacation really has put our triathlon training and races on hold. Hopefully we won't get too soft while we're gone.

Apple Store Photo Booth Picture

This weekend I went to the mall with my mom for her Bday and stopped by the apple store. I played with their new Photo Booth application and took this picture of myself. If it doesn't really look like me try covering half the photo and you should be able to recognize me making a strange face.

Yesterday Peg took a little spill when riding to work. Good thing she fell due to running over a patch of sand. The damage was greatly minimized by the fact that she landed in sand, I'm very thankful for that. The reason for the sand is that the rains from the past few weeks came up high enough from a channel onto our riding trail that it accumulated a pretty thick area of sand. Here's a link to a picture of Peg's face bruise. I'm not putting the pic here because Peg probably won't appreciate it. Here's the discreet link.

Triathlon Post.

I went to the LA Tri Series 1 race in San Dimas today. Also today is one of the first posts I've made using blogspot. I wanted to give a little sneak peak to our new triathlon gear store opening in sometime around June-July. If you would like to pre-order feel free to do so but items won't ship until the June-July time frame. Please wish us luck and thank you to all our family and friends for your suppport! (Peg has been working tirelessly on the site every night and weekend to get it to the beautiful state it is in now.)

ED, Walnut, Mud Run

The last time I made an update to my website was 11/18/05 (Nov. 18, 2005) about some triathlon stuff. (Note: If you click on the link it will take you to the old version of my site so don't be shocked.) It's been four months since I updated my site. So I'm getting better considering the update before that was a six month gap.

I've continued running and doing triathlons, in fact Alan has picked up these races and is competing more than me now, very impressive. I set up another triathlon site called Triathlete Stuff. Check it out if you get the chance.

Left Picture: Cho, Justin, and Simon in front of the Extreme Dimensions SEMA booth. Extreme Dimensions is the company I work at that sells body kits. The car that they are standing in front of is the Ford Mustang Wide Body Kit. The kit is a Carbon Creations 9 piece wide body it's HotWheels branded and prety cool.

Right Picture: At Clarrisa's going away party we met up with a lot of old Walnut alumni. In the picture from left to right is Steph, Peg, me (Jerry), Clar, Kathy, Rumina, Jennifer, and Sandy. Three doctors in this picture. Well done ladies, well done.

Left Picture: Clar, Angela, Jane, and Saunders at the Camp Pendleton Mud Run 6/11/05. It was tons of fun and we got very dirty, I'll try to post some more pictures in the future this 10K race was the first step in me, Jerry, wanting to do a triathlon. I still remember feeling so good after the race that I was itching for more. More ended up being triathlons.

You may be wondering why I keep refering to myself, Jerry, throughout the page. It's not that I like seeing my name in print, it's because it's impossible to search for my site on search engines anymore. At one point I took up 8 of the top 10 when you typed in Jerry Cheng on Yahoo or Google. Nowadays I'm no where to be found. So for the sake of making myself more relevant I am making it clear that this site is about me. If you are a friend or relative please feel free to link to my site and help me let the world know that jerrycheng.com is relevant to me Jerry Cheng. Thanks for your support.
